All about moonrocks and how to smoke them
Have you ever tried moonrocks? If you haven’t, you’re in for a treat. Moonrocks are a potent treat for the discerning smoker. Originating from the west coast of the United States, moonrocks traditionally come with a high THC level that promises a powerful high. Unfortunately, that also makes them illegal in European countries where authorised THC levels are capped at 0,2 to 0,6 %. However, the rising popularity and availability of cannabidiol (or CBD)-based products mean that it’s now possible to benefit from the potency and prestige of Moonrocks while staying on the right side of the law. Let’s take a closer look.
What are Moonrocks?
No-one is quite sure where moonrocks originally came from. Urban legends attribute them to a dispensary in California. It was later popularised by the rapper Kurupt, who trademarked his own product, known as Kurupt Moonrock.
Let’s be clear about one thing: moonrocks are not for beginner cannabis consumers. They’re essentially cannabis flowers dipped in cannabis oil and then rolled in kief. This creates a very powerful product that comes with a potent kief taste and a strong high (for the THC version of it).
But what about CBD Moonrocks? Well, they’re basically the same thing, except the cannabis flowers used have a low THC and a high CBD content. The hemp flowers are coated in CBD oil and rolled in CBD pollen for a low-THC experience.
How do you smoke Moonrocks?
The easiest way to smoke moonrocks is to invest in a bong, a pipe or a vaporizer. You could then throw some CBD cannabis flowers on top to make it easier to light and burn. Another option is to break up some small pieces and roll them up into a joint with some tobacco substitute.
First of all, make sure you have the following: A gram of moonrock (of course), about the same amount of flowers, a blade or very sharp knife, a pipe or bong, a tray and a lighter. Place your moonrock on your rolling tray, cut it into five or six small pieces, pack your flower into your pipe, and then place your Moonrock on top. With your lighter, slowly burn the top of the Moonrock so it melts onto the flower, but makes sure it doesn’t catch fire. Inhale as you apply low heat and whatever you do, don’t touch it!
Pros and cons of smoking moonrocks
Why do people opt for moonrocks over other cannabis products? Quite simply, they’re an easy, cost-effective way of getting the biggest bang for your buck. Rather than having to invest in flowers, CBD pollen and CBD oil individually, you receive a ready-to-use, all-in-one product. What’s more, their high CBD concentration enables you to profit from all the benefits of Cannabidiol. As a reminder, many CBD cannabis consumers report improvements in mood, lower stress levels and even reduced chronic pain symptoms.
As for cons, there aren’t many when it comes to CBD Moonrocks. Unlike their THC-heavy counterparts, Cannabidiol Moonrocks won’t get you high. One downside is that Moonrocks should ideally be smoked with a pipe or bong, meaning you do need to have some equipment to hand. They can also be fiddly to prepare and consume for beginner smokers.
